Summer brings sunlight, warmth and joy. It is the time to visit our favorite vacation spots and visit our family and friends. For many creatives, it can be hard to leave our crafting spaces behind. No matter where you travel too this summer, keep in mind that you don't need to leave all your crafting supplies at home. There are several options that allow you to create on the go. We will be discussing a few considerations when packing your supplies this summer.
Traveling brings us out of our comfort zone. Bringing a simple sketchbook and a few pencils can help stretch those creative muscles. Limiting supplies that travel with us can help think of new ways to use the same old supplies. Trying new things such as sketching can stimulate our brains, sharpen our focus, overcome fears, and create a healthy pathway to longevity. It is never too late to try something new.Â
Before you travel this summer, consider doing a little pre-planning. Some crafting activities are more feasible than others. If you are flying to your destination, you will not be able to pack your supplies like paint thinners, scissors and crafting knives. Packing expensive art supplies could be risky if your luggage becomes lost or stolen. Paint pouring on a large canvas in your hotel room might not be the best idea either. What if one of the paints exploded in your luggage on the way to your destination?Â
Bringing items that are more lightweight and less messy can make packing easy and stress free. If you have a tablet that you are planning on bringing with you, consider trying digital art. Drawing apps like Procreate are easy to learn and mess free. Light weight options can also include embroidery supplies. Art journaling supplies can also be lightweight and portable as long as you limit yourself to a few supplies.
Next week we will be discussing specific ways to pack your creative supplies. No matter what you pack with you this summer, remember to have fun and cultivate your creativity.Â
